Redline Championships is putting a new guarantee behind some of its most established divisions.
The event producer announced the launch of the Redline Competition Guarantee, a pilot program designed to give All Star programs more certainty that teams entering select Prep and Elite divisions will have competition when they arrive at an event.
Under the program, Redline has identified designated Guaranteed Divisions based on participation data from the previous competition season and divisions that have consistently attracted multiple teams.
If a team enters one of those designated divisions and ultimately becomes the only team competing in the division, Redline will issue the program a registration credit equal to the eligible registration fee paid for that team. The credit can then be applied toward another Redline Championships event.
The guarantee is also designed to remain intact when Redline makes an event-specific division split.
That means a team would remain covered if its original division is separated into categories such as D1 and D2, team size, A and B divisions, or another competition-specific split and the team is left without another program in its resulting division.
“When a program chooses Redline Championships, they are putting their athletes, coaches and families on our stage, and we take that responsibility seriously,” Redline Championships founder Jeb Harris said. “We believe teams deserve the opportunity to compete — not simply take the floor alone.”
Addressing a Common All Star Competition Issue
Single-team divisions have long been part of the All Star competition landscape, particularly as divisions continue to become more specific based on age, level, program size and team size.
For programs, discovering that a team has no direct competition can change the competitive experience after athletes and families have already committed to registration, travel and other event expenses.
Redline’s new model puts a financial commitment behind selected divisions where the company believes previous participation gives it enough data to advertise a stronger expectation of competition.
The initial list is based on previous-season participation and competitive depth, according to Redline.
The company said it also plans to continue building those divisions through event growth, outreach to programs, recruiting and marketing.
A Pilot Program
The Competition Guarantee is launching as a pilot rather than a permanent policy.
Redline said the list of qualifying divisions, eligibility requirements and credit structure could change as the company evaluates participation and operational needs.
The guarantee also does not mean every Redline division is covered. Programs will need to confirm that their team is entered in one of the specifically designated Guaranteed Divisions and meets the program’s eligibility requirements.
