The momentum behind STUNT continues to grow.
Earlier this year, STUNT officially earned NCAA Championship Sport status, becoming the NCAA's 94th championship sport and creating an unprecedented opportunity for female athletes across the country. Now, the NCAA has taken another major step forward by releasing key recommendations and details for the first-ever NCAA STUNT Championship, scheduled for Spring 2027.
The NCAA Women's STUNT Committee has recommended a 12-team national championship format that will bring together the top programs from all NCAA divisions to compete for the sport's first NCAA national title. The championship is proposed to take place on the weekend containing the first Saturday in May, creating a premier championship window that will showcase STUNT on one of college athletics' biggest stages.
Among the recommendations are:
A 12-team NCAA Championship bracket featuring the nation's top teams.
A single-elimination championship format.
A championship weekend designed to maximize visibility for student-athletes and fans.
Roster and travel policies that support the student-athlete experience while aligning with NCAA championship standards.
While these recommendations still move through the NCAA championship approval process, they represent another exciting milestone in STUNT's remarkable journey from concept to championship sport.
Just a few short years ago, STUNT was working toward recognition as an NCAA Emerging Sport. Today, we are preparing for the first NCAA Championship and creating more opportunities than ever before for female athletes to compete at the highest collegiate level.
This achievement belongs to the athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, and supporters who believed in the vision of STUNT and helped build the sport across the country. Together, we have created a pathway that continues to expand opportunities for thousands of athletes and future generations to come.
The future of STUNT has never been brighter, and the road to the first NCAA Championship is officially underway. #94STUNT

USA Cheer's Collegiate Championship Plans
While the NCAA championship represents an exciting new chapter for STUNT, it is not the end of the story—it is the beginning of an even bigger future. USA Cheer is actively developing a new collegiate championship model, tentatively planned for April 15–18, 2027, designed to complement the NCAA championship structure while continuing to provide meaningful postseason opportunities for programs across the country.
Our commitment remains unchanged: creating pathways for participation, competition, and growth for every STUNT athlete and institution. As the sport continues to expand, we are excited to build a championship experience that celebrates the full depth and diversity of the collegiate STUNT community and helps fuel the next phase of the sport's growth. More details to come in the coming weeks.
An Update on Tentative Dates
Thank you to everyone who reached out regarding the tentative championship dates.
The dates included in our announcement were intentionally listed as tentative. At the NCAA's recommendation, we initially explored hosting the USA Cheer College STUNT Championship two weeks prior to the inaugural NCAA Championship. However, after receiving feedback and recognizing that many conference championships are currently scheduled for that same weekend, we understand the challenges that could create for participating programs.
More importantly, we couldn't be more excited to see the continued growth of STUNT reflected in the expansion of conference championships across the country. Just a few years ago, conference championships were more of a vision than a reality, and today they have become a meaningful and important part of the collegiate STUNT postseason. That growth is a tremendous sign of the sport's momentum and the commitment of our coaches, administrators, and student-athletes.
Our goal is to support and complement that growth, not compete with it. As a result, we will be exploring a return to the traditional championship weekend we have utilized in recent years—the weekend following conference championships and preceding the NCAA Championship. We believe this timing will best serve our membership while allowing teams to fully participate in both their conference championships and the broader postseason opportunities available to them.
We appreciate everyone's feedback and partnership as we navigate this historic transition. The future of collegiate STUNT has never been brighter, and we are committed to building a postseason structure that continues to create meaningful opportunities for programs at every level. Have a great weekend for those attending the STUNT coaches gathering in Dallas, and we are looking forward to seeing many of you in Nashville in a few weeks where we will have many more updates to share.
