Varsity has announced official team rosters for the first-ever Pro Cheer League, featuring elite athletes from across the country ahead of the 2026 debut season. Games will commence in January 2026 across four teams: Atlanta Air, Dallas Drive, Golden State Grit, and Miami Metal.
The league brings a professional platform to cheer athletes 18 and older, uniting national talent under a new competitive system. Each of the league’s four teams have chosen up to 30 athletes through nationwide tryouts held in September. Selection panels reviewed video submissions, in-person skill assessments, and interviews before finalizing rosters earlier this week.

Season Format and Schedule
The inaugural Pro Cheer League season will open the weekend of January 16, 2026, coinciding with JAMfest Cheer Super Nationals in Indianapolis, before traveling to other major national stages including CHEERSPORT, NCA, USA Super Nationals, and One Up Championships.
Each event will feature three rounds of competition:
Rounds 1 & 2 – Bracket-style head-to-head rounds focused on tumbling, stunts, and baskets.
Round 3 – A full routine (2–3 minutes) set to music and judged on performance, choreography, and execution.
Next Steps for Teams and Fans
Kelly Greene with Varsity Spirit told Cheer Daily “Pro Cheer League athletes will receive a comprehensive compensation package that includes uniforms, practice wear, shoes, event participation, travel expenses, and an hourly pay rate of approximately $40 per hour per athlete.” Axios reports athletes can expect $13,000 – $15,000 seasonally which includes their hourly rate and any end of season bonuses.
Teams will begin training next month, November 2025. We are expecting to get behind-the-scenes content on the league’s official channels in December. Athletes will balance their professional commitments alongside All Star and college obligations, as part-time employees, designed to accommodate dual participation.
The Pro Cheer League is scheduled to be a centerpiece of the 2026 competitive season, with broadcast plans and live coverage details expected later this year.
