The Cheerleading Worlds will introduce an updated scoring system for USASF Club divisions in 2027, converting the current 170-point score sheet to a 100-point format.
The USASF and International All Star Federation announced the updates to improve alignment between Worlds-related scoring systems while maintaining the priorities already familiar to coaches, judges and event producers.
The change is largely a mathematical conversion rather than a complete restructuring of how routines are evaluated. USASF Club divisions will continue to be scored across the same 10 categories, with difficulty, technique and comparative evaluation remaining central to the system.
Stunts and pyramids will each account for 24% of the new score sheet. Standing tumbling and running tumbling will each represent 12%, while tosses, jumps and dance will each account for 6%.
Formations and transitions will represent 3%, with performance also weighted at 3%.
Most category weights will change by less than one percentage point. The most notable adjustment involves routine creativity and composition, which will decrease from 5.88% of the current score to 4% under the new system.
Jumps will also become a capped category. The change follows the direction established within the IASF scoring system and represents the primary rubric adjustment included in the USASF Club division update.
Under a capped category, teams are evaluated against established scoring requirements rather than through the same comparative range used for other parts of the routine. Additional details regarding the jump requirements and scoring ranges are expected to be outlined in the complete scoring resources.
The conversion creates a common 100-point foundation for USASF and IASF divisions at The Cheerleading Worlds without eliminating the category structure currently used for USASF Club teams.
A growing list of event producers will use the Worlds scoring system during the 2026-27 season. The published schedule currently includes events operated by The Spirit Network, JAMZ Cheer and Dance, World Cheer Co, Champion Spirit Group, Cheer Derby, CheerX, The CheerExpo, GMCE, 9 Panel Cheer and additional producers.
Some of the listed competitions will award bids to The Cheerleading Worlds, while others will use the scoring system without offering Worlds bids. The in-season list begins with the TSN Colorado Spirit Showcase on Nov. 7, 2026, and currently extends through the TSN Cali Finale on May 1-2, 2027. USASF noted that the list is not all-inclusive and will continue to be updated.
The USASF and IASF have released separate scoring resources for their respective Worlds divisions, along with a summary explaining the primary differences between the former and updated USASF Club systems.
