George Mason Athletics has announced Holly Jones as the new head coach of the George Mason cheerleading program. With 16 years of coaching and nearly 30 years in the sport, Jones brings her extensive experience to the Patriots.
A native of New England, Jones has coached nationally-ranked high school cheer teams in Virginia and Florida, as well as a nationally-ranked Pop Warner youth cheer team.
“We’re excited to welcome Holly and her family to George Mason University,” said Zack Bolno, deputy athletic director and director of external affairs. “Holly’s passion for cheer and her approach to the student-athlete experience make her a great fit to lead our cheer program. She’s committed to being an ambassador for our program and engaging with our campus and the Northern Virginia community.”
Jones is a member of USA Cheer, USASF Cheer, and a current Virginia High School League competitive cheer judge.
“I am thrilled to join the George Mason family and cheer program,” said Jones. “I look forward to supporting George Mason and working with our student-athletes and staff to enhance our game day and spirit experience.”
Jones comes to Mason from St. Paul VI Catholic High School (PVI) in Chantilly, VA. During her seven years at PVI, the program achieved numerous local and regional victories and top 10 national rankings.
