USA Cheer, the governing body for sport cheering in the United States, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming a USOPC Affiliate Sports Organization. This recognition by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) marks a monumental day for cheerleading, emphasizing its prominence and dedication to growth and professionalism within the athletic community.

This endorsement follows USA Cheer’s previous acknowledgment by the International Cheer Union in 2021 and cements its status as the premier organization for cheer and STUNT in the United States. Lauri Harris, Executive Director of USA Cheer, expressed immense pride in this achievement, highlighting the organization’s dedication to promoting safety, education, and the expansion of cheer and STUNT.

The recognition is part of a broader initiative by the USOPC to enhance the support for various sports through its Affiliate Organizations Council (AOC). The AOC, consisting of community-based, military, adaptive, education-based, and recognized sport organizations, aims to support the Olympic and Paralympic movements by fostering national interest and increasing participation across these sports.

Alongside USA Cheer, other organizations such as the United States Muaythai Federation, USA Cricket, USA Kickboxing, and USA Lacrosse were also welcomed into the council. This inclusion into the USOPC family allows these organizations to leverage the council’s resources to promote their sports and enhance their programs nationally.

USA Cheer’s induction into the USOPC Affiliate Sports Organization category provides it with a platform to further its goals of expanding cheerleading’s reach and ensuring its athletes receive the best possible opportunities and exposure. This recognition will undoubtedly propel USA Cheer’s initiatives to develop interest and participation, serving as a catalyst for its programs aimed at representing the United States in international cheer events.

As USA Cheer continues to grow and serve its community, it stands as a proud member of the USOPC, ready to contribute to the Olympic and Paralympic movements and inspire millions of athletes across the nation. This acknowledgment not only validates the hard work of all those involved in cheer and STUNT but also sets a promising path for the future of cheerleading in America and on the global stage.
